Ursprünglisch wohl nur in Vorder- und Kleinasien verbreitet, wurde der Damhirsch - als jagdbares Wild - durch den Menschen in ganz Europa und auch in anderen Teilen der Welt angesiedelt. Charakteristisch sind das Schaufelgeweih der männlichen Tiere und das gefleckte Sommerfell. Unser Präparat zeigt ein weibliches Kalb.
